Defending champion wants second gold medal in Light-Welterweight class

(BEIJING, August 22) -- 2004 Athens gold medalist Manus Boonjumnong of Thailand beat Roniel Iglesias Sotolongo of Cuba 10-5 in a semifinal of the Light-Welterweight (64kg) class.

Boonjumnong will meet Felix Diaz of the Dominican Republic in the final, as the other semifinal saw Diaz win 12:10 over Alexis Vastine of France.

Boonjumnong outscored the Cuban boxer in the first three rounds 2-1, 4-2, and 3-0. Though Boonjumnong turned defensive in the last round, Sotolongo could only score two points.

Sotolongo and Vastine will be awarded with bronze medals.
